Reputation (Hero & Villain)

Reputation is the PvP alignment system. Everyone starts Innocent with 0 Reputation. Killing villains pushes you up the Hero ladder; attacking and killing innocents or heroes pushes you down the Villain ladder. Your status is shown on the player list and colors the name above your head.

How Reputation Changes

  • Attacking: if you have 0 or positive Reputation and you damage a player who is Innocent or a Hero, you instantly become a Lawbreaker (Reputation -1). Hitting villains is always safe.
  • Killing: every kill changes your Reputation by an amount that depends on the victim's status (table below). Killing villains gives positive Reputation, killing innocents and heroes gives negative Reputation. The higher the victim's status, the bigger the change.
  • A villain becomes a hero again by killing villains until the Reputation is back above 0.
  • Skill Tree Reputation nodes make your Reputation move faster in whichever direction your kills push it.
  • Your exact Reputation is shown in the Menu.

Kill Counters and Capes

  • The game keeps three permanent counters: Villain Kills (the victim had negative Reputation), Hero Kills (the victim had positive Reputation) and Innocent Kills (the victim had exactly 0).
  • Hero capes require Villain Kills and Villain capes require Hero Kills, plus Tokens. Capes multiply all training gains. See the Capes page for prices and requirements.
  • Innocent Kills do not count for any cape.
  • The Super Hero and Super Villain leaderboards rank the highest and lowest Reputation in the game.

PvP Rules

  • Only Damage Villain (Settings): your attacks ignore Innocents and Heroes. Use it to keep a Hero status safe.
  • Only Damage Hero (Settings): your attacks ignore Villains and only hit players with 0 or positive Reputation.
  • Prevent Damage to Squad Members (Settings): no damage between you and your squad or allied squads. It works if EITHER player has it on. A Bounty contract ignores it: hunter and target can always hit each other.
  • Spawn dome: everyone inside the spawn shield gets a force field, whatever their Reputation.
  • Other Safe Zones only protect players with exactly 0 Reputation. Heroes and villains get no force field there. Safe Zones also pause your Token income.
  • A player with a force field cannot be damaged and cannot deal damage.
  • New player shield: during your first 6 hours of playtime you have a permanent force field. You cannot be attacked, you cannot attack other players, and you cannot capture flags.
  • Several skills only land on players far weaker than you in the matching stat. That is a rule of the skill, not of Reputation.
